Council reaches political agreement on reduced VAT for e-books
It is with immense pleasure that the Federation of European Publishers welcomes the political agreement reached today by the Economic and Financial Affairs Council on the legislative proposal regarding reduced rates of VAT for e-publications.
“This forward-looking decision marks the end of the unjustified fiscal discrimination between publications in different formats, acknowledging the cultural, social and economic value of books, journals and educational materials in all formats and the technological progress that has taken place in the sector”, said Rudy Vanschoonbeek, President of FEP.
