The Federation of European Publishers condemns the murders at Charlie Hebdo and will continue to defend freedom of expression

The Federation of European Publishers joins its colleagues from the French Publishers Association and the International Publishers Association to denounce the murders committed in Paris yesterday. Killing authors, their colleagues and those who were protecting them is an act of extreme cowardice. But freedom of expression will win over barbarity. The publishers members of the Federation are fighting day after day to ensure that freedom of expression and freedom to publish remain a reality in Europe and worldwide. The President of the Federation of European Publishers, Pierre Dutilleul, said “Like all my colleagues, I am obviously shocked by these hideous and barbaric crimes committed against the journalists from Charlie Hebdo. On behalf of all European publishers, I will continue to denounce and fight any attack to freedom of expression, which is the basis of our democracies. “
