FEP organises a seminar on text-and-data mining at the European Commission
Mr. Pierre Delsaux, Deputy Director of DG Internal Market, hosted a seminar on text-and-data mining, organised by FEP, on the 19th of December.
About a dozen experts, including researchers and publishers talked about what is text mining, how it matters for both the publishing and the researching communities and what kind of licensing solutions were brought direcly by publishers -Elsevier, Springer and Wiley delivered presentations- and some RROs -the UK Publishers Licensing Society, the Copyright Clearance Center and the Newspaper Licencing Agency presented their collective licensing solutions.
The workshop was very well attended by Commission officials and was very valuable in the prospect of the stakeholder dialogue on TDM starting in January 2013, within the framework of Licensing Europe.
